The Burabay Resort (also known as Borovoe Resort) is located in Akmola Province, just 255 km (160 mi) away from Nur-Sultan. This lovely area offers a peaceful retreat from the busy streets of the capital. This is a land of vast coniferous forests, azure lakes, and majestic peaks.
Upon arrival be sure to call on the Visitor Center, where you will get information about the protected area and places to visit. The Visitor Center also houses a Museum of Nature and a petting zoo.
Mount Bolektau is one of the most popular peaks among hikers. At the beginning of the route there is an information board in three languages. Climbing the mountain takes only 15 minutes, and you do not need special equipment. A wooden staircase was built on a difficult section of the climb.
If this is your first time in Burabay, you can climb the mountain with a tour. Once you know the area, you will be able to climb it again on your own.

How to get there
The Burabay Resort is located 255 km (160 mi) away from Nur-Sultan. You can get to the resort by train, bus, minibus, and taxi. Staff at the Visitor Center will gladly provide you with information on routes to hike Mount Bolektau. You can also book a tour here.
If you prefer to hike on your own, the mountain is located between the village of Burabay (about 2 km away) and the Glade of Ablai Khan. You can use the hiking trail along the lake, which will take half an hour. You can also order a taxi. Since Bolektau is located on the territory of the Burabay National Park, you will be charged about 300 tenge for the entrance to the protected area.
Food and accommodation
Since Burabay is an all-season resort, you will not have problems with food and accommodation. Certainly during the high season (from mid-May to the end of October) there are more cafes and restaurants open than in autumn or winter. In addition, the KazWay pavilion works during the high season at the foot of Mount Bolektau. There you can buy drinks and pastries.
