Asy Plateau
This plateau is known from times immemorial as a summer pasture.
Asy Plateau (also spelled as Assy) is located along the Kishi-Turgen River, and stretches on for 60 km (37 mi). The plateau is 2800-3200 meters (about 9000-10500 ft) above the sea level. Here burial mounds of the Early Iron Age have been preserved. From ancient times, the Asy Plateau has been known as a summer pasture, used by Kazakh farmers for cattle grazing. Caravans going from Europe and Central Asia to China and India crossed the plateau as well.
Here you can see bizarre-shaped trees, beautiful flowers, picturesque hills, herds of horses, moss-covered stones, and a river with crystal clear water.
In the upper part of the plateau, there is an astrophysical observatory equipped with one of the largest telescopes in the world.
