The Sultan Epe Necropolis is a part of the complex of the same name, which also includes an underground mosque, numerous monuments, a garden with a well, and ancient settlements.

Sultan Epe played an important role in the history of Kazakhstan, he is considered a saint and is called the defender of seafarers. During his life, he often helped the sailors on the Caspian Sea. For it he received such an honorary title.

The Sultan Epe Necropolis includes also an underground mosque, numerous monuments, a garden with a well, and ancient settlements. Some artifacts dating back to the prehistoric period have been found here. A special feature of the local burial is long wooden poles that rise above the tombs of the righteous people. People make small knots out of cloth, tie them to the poles, and leave money that people in need may take.
