Manor Sultanbet Sultan

The history of the Kazakh people knows many outstanding personalities, including Sultanbet Sultan, a famous statesman of the 18th century. He was not only the cousin of Abylai Khan, but was also his companion. The people remember him as a worthy, decent and wise ruler of the ulus of the Middle Zhuz, the main territory of which was just in Pavlodar region. Sultanbet Sultan played an important role in strengthening Kazakh statehood in the eastern and northeastern regions of the Kazakh Khanate. His estate served as a place for important diplomatic negotiations, however, until the 20s of the 21st century, its location was unknown. And only as a result of careful archival work, the plan of the Sultan's house was discovered, and in 2016 the expedition of the archaeological center “Margulan Center of the Pavlodar State Pedagogical Institute discovered the estate itself in the area of the former village of Kenzhekol, now part of the city of Pavlodar.

The residence was restored according to the descriptions and drawings preserved in the archives, according to which the estate housed the Sultan's chambers and two rooms that served as working rooms.

At present, the estate has not only been recreated and gone through all the stages of reconstruction, but also moved from the outskirts of the city to its historical center. The building is a log cabin made of wood brought by the descendants of the Sultan from Krasnoyarsk. The estate has become a real architectural and historical landmark not only of Pavlodar, but also of Kazakhstan. Transformed into a museum, it welcomes inquisitive visitors interested in the history and architecture of Kazakhstan.

In Pavlodar, you will find many other sights, in addition to the Sultanbet Sultan's estate. There are temples of almost all world religions, interesting in their architecture. Beautiful mosque named after Mashkhur Zhusup, the architecture of the Church of St. Righteous John of Kronstadt and the Church of St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus fascinates. There is also a synagogue in Pavlodar.

The estate of Sultanbet Sultan is located in the very center of Pavlodar on the territory of the Pavlodar State Pedagogical Institute named after S. Toraigyrov, at the address: st. Astana, 151. You can get there by all types of public transport, as well as by taxi.
