Abay State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater

The theater is located in Almaty and is named after Abay Qunanbaiuly, the great Kazakh poet, philosopher, and composer.

The theatre opened in 1941. This majestic building is still an eye-catcher, even with newly-constructed buildings around it. Its facade and interior are decorated with Kazakh national ornaments.

The theater repertoire does not lag behind time. Plays on topical issues are often performed here. By the way, the theatre regularly goes on tours in Asia, Europe, and America, raising awareness about Kazakh art around the world.
