The Berel kurgans are a grave complex located in the Shilikta valley of the East Kazakhstan region. It consists of 72 burial structures, which date back to 5-4 centuries BC. The most significant burial of the necropolis is the Golden Barrow of Kings. He is known for his luxurious costume embroidered with gold plates and decorations discovered during the excavations. Many artifacts of the Berel Kurgans became exhibits not only of Kazakhstan’s museums, but also of the world-famous Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
