The museum named after Zhangir Khan acquaints visitors with the life of the inhabitants of Western Kazakhstan at the beginning of the 19th century.

Historical and Ethnographic Museum named after Zhangir Khan West Kazakhstan region is designed to acquaint visitors with the life, culture, traditions and way of life of the people who lived in this region at the beginning of the 19th century. It was at that time that the transition from a nomadic lifestyle to an urban one took place.

The museum connected with the history of the Bukey Horde was established in Uralsk in 2004 at the West Kazakhstan Agrarian and Technical University named after Zhangir Khan. The three halls of the museum present a yurt, works of artisans, national costumes, household items that reveal the world of material and spiritual culture of the nomadic people. It also displays photographs, documents, copies of books with the seal of Zhangir Khan and personal belongings of a well-known public and political figure of Kazakhstan in the 19th century.

The central hall of the museum presents authentic documents found in the archives and libraries of Orenburg, Saratov, Kazan, St. Petersburg and Moscow, demonstrating the fruitful activity of Zhangir Khan. All the thoughts of this polyglot, politician, diplomat, ascetic of science were concentrated on the well-being of his people. He also contributed to the development of international relations and friendship between different countries and peoples.

Zhangir Khan was one of the first who realized the consequences of the crisis of nomadic culture and took measures, promptly carried out reforms in the internal policy of the Bukeev Khanate. So, in 1827, the city building of the Khan's Headquarters first appeared in the region, which served as an example for the construction of houses by the Kazakhs. Zhangir Khan is known for trying to raise the standard of living and culture of his people. Many of his followers became activists of the Alash movement, prominent state and political figures of Western Kazakhstan.

The Museum of Zhangir Khan is located in the city of Uralsk on Zhangir Khan Street, 51.
