Priceless diamond of Astana, conveying the true spirit and culture of the Eastern world
Central Asia’s largest mosque, Khazret-Sultan, is a young Muslim prayer edifice, but it has already become one of the main religious and spiritual attractions of the city.
The mosque was named in honor of the Sufi sheikh - Khoja Ahmet Yassawi - and in Russian is called the “Holy Sultan”. The area occupied by the building covers 11 hectares, and the building itself can accommodate 10,000 people. White color has great dignity in Islam, therefore this color was chosen as the main color of the facade of the building and its interior. There are prayer halls, rooms for reading the Koran (Muslim scripture), a wedding hall and rooms for seminars and lectures.
“Khazret-Sultan” Mosque is a priceless diamond of Astana, conveying the true spirit and culture of the Eastern world.
