The second largest mosque in Kazakhstan
The second largest mosque in Kazakhstan, “Nur-Astana”, is represented by a magnificent architectural building in the style of Islamic architecture. Looking at “Nur-Astana”, you involuntarily find yourself in a beautiful oriental tale, marveling at the scale of such an incredible structure.
The dimensional data of the mosque is extremely symbolic: the dome of the mosque is 40 m, which personifies the age of the Prophet Mohammed, when one of the angels appeared to him (40 years); the height of the minaret is 63 meters - the same number of years the Prophet lived on Earth. The Koran from the Saudi Arabian government’s printing office is also kept here, as well as the Kiswa flap - the cover of a Muslim holy Kaaba.
The “Nur-Astana” mosque is striking in its solemnity and harmonizes perfectly with the new Astana, complementing the unusual look of the city with oriental notes.
