St. Nicholas Cathedral is the main Orthodox Church of Aktobe region and is part of the joint Ural and Aktobe diocese. In 2006, the first stone was laid on the site of the future temple, and in 2008 the opening of the church was greeted by Nursultan Nazarbayev and Dmitry Medvedev. The construction of the cathedral was carried out by the collective labor of residents of the city and region, and his name is associated with the Kazakh metropolitan Nikolai Mogilevsky.
