The Karynjaryk Hollow (also spelled as Karynzharyk Hollow) is located in the south-west of the Mangystau Province. It divides Mangyshlak Peninsula and the Ustyurt Plateau. There is a large saline lake Kenderli inside the hollow. In the summertime, white salty soil is covered in cracks, and when it rains the salt pan resembles a huge mirror. The hollow is surrounded by five mountains about 100 m high, that fascinate travelers. Steep ledges in the east is a home for Asian mouflons.
Karynjaryk Hollow attracts photographers, however, pictures do not convey the magnificence of this place. It is probably for the better, for all impressions and emotions should be stored not on paper, but in a traveler's heart.
