In the history of Kazakhstan, the personality of the Sultan- epe occupies a particularly important role, and among the believers of the population it is revered as a saint and is called by the people as the defender of seafarers. During his life, he often helped the sailors of the Caspian waters, for which he received such an honorary title.

The necropolis Sultan- epe is included in the complex of the same name, which also includes an underground mosque, numerous monuments, a garden with a well, and ancient sites. The sights of the necropolis are associated with the new time, however, materials dating from the prehistoric period have been found and collected in its vicinity. A special feature of the local burial is considered to be wooden elongated poles that rise above the pious tombs.

Believers and interested tourists make a small knot of pieces of cloth, tying them to a pole, and leave money that people in need may need.
