One of the ethno-tourist centers of Kazakhstan, the Syganak, is a major historical landmark of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is included in the preliminary list of UNESCO World Heritage institutions, which makes it an important asset not only of the Kyzylorda region, but also of the whole country. The first recorded mention of it refers to the 10-11 centuries, where the city belongs to the Oguz settlements. In the Middle Ages Syganak was the Kypchak capital, the headquarters of Ak-Orda and the center of the Kazakh Khanate. Systematic excavations on the territory of an ancient place of political significance began to be conducted at the beginning of this century. In Syganak mosques and madrasahs were towering; therefore, during the archaeological works, the ruins of many buildings of medieval architecture were found, as well as ceramic vessels, millstone fragments, and patterned stones.
