State Reserve "Barsakelmes"
"Barsakelmes" is a treasure trove of rare and beautiful representatives of wildlife.
The Aral sea reserve "Barsakemes" , which began its work in 1929, is located on a mysterious island of the same name and is one of the most unusual reserves on the territory of Kazakhstan. The area, occupied by "Barsakelmes", territorial exceeds 160 hectares. The uniqueness of the reserve lies in the research work carried out in its vicinity, and this is the analysis of climate change, and the search for the causes of the desertification of the natural landscape, and the study of the formation of the relief and structure of the biosphere.
"Barsakelmes" is a treasure trove of rare and beautiful representatives of wildlife. The local flora is represented by 278 species of plants, including Borshchov’s colorful tulips, Kandym shrubs and thick thickets of saxaul. The fauna is distinguished by a large number of invertebrates, and also is home to many amazing reptiles, birds and 28 species of mammals, including the Red Book animals.
There is an extensive library in the state reserve “Barsakelmes”, joint research with the institute is regularly conducted in its territory, aimed at maintaining and studying the reserves’ wealth. The task of each person is to preserve and protect nature, which unselfishly presents us with generous priceless gifts.
