Museum and memorial complex "ALZHIR"
The museum-memorial complex “ALZHIR”, dedicated to the memory of victims of political repressions of the times of totalitarianism
Akmola camp of wives of traitors to the motherland is a notorious place where more than 18 thousand unfortunate women who were just wives of the so-called “enemies of the people” ("public enemy") were imprisoned. It is impossible to hold back tears here, but you cannot miss a visit to the memorial complex either. Memorable signs of embassies of different countries, compositions bearing a deep, but absolutely clear meaning will be presented to your attention; the famous “Arch of Sorrow”, passing under which the head should be lowered, steles, the “Stalin's car” and the hut where women were convicted as “socially dangerous and capable of anti-Soviet actions” people.
The museum-memorial complex “ALZHIR”, dedicated to the memory of victims of political repressions of the times of totalitarianism, is a frightening, but very important place, clearly demonstrating what the absurdity of war and blind tyranny of “leaders of the people” can sometimes bring.
